Hope
Over the past 2 years, COVID has taken a toll on all of us. For most looking to tie the knot, it has either postponed or downscaled one of the most important days of their lives. But for some, it has been a blessing in disguise. I know, that can be hard to imagine as the O Variant looks to threaten our livelihood once again, but I want to share with you what I have seen over the past two seasons that actually gives me hope.
The Silver-lining
We've all been to the large scale weddings. They are a production... If done right, a very elegant, fine tuned production. But, they require a lot of focus and the energy can often be misplaced. I don't mean to come off as a hopeless romantic, but in the end of the day it is my belief that a wedding is about two individuals and those they love. When we were asked to limit those who could come spend this important day with us, it seemed to be quite the challenge for most. However, what became the end result shocked me more than I could imagine.
The Story
We walked down a small nature trail, with the couple in front of me holding hands, completely infatuated with one another. It was just them for the moment and they couldn't stop smiling. I gazed and had to remind myself that I was there to do a job. But it was a beautiful summer day in Cape Cod, MA and we found our way to this fully in bloom willow tree. Close friends and family were waiting with love written in each expression. I watched as they transformed this chaotic world into simple beauty. No production needed, just love.
What did it mean?
Simple put? The world is not transformed by what's around you, it is transformed by WHO you put around you.
